Let me tell you a story: Once upon a time, a certain mom of four kids went to the beach. She relied on some probably-expired sunscreen to protect her from the rays of the sun glaring off the ocean and sand. She played and enjoyed her children despite the sweat running down the center of her back and down the side of her face. She battled squinting eyes and blurry contacts to thoroughly embrace that which is the glory of kids on the beach squealing and having fun. Yet despite all this fun, she returned to the beach house only to discover that her supposedly awesome sunscreen had, in fact, let her down. She was quite literally burned to a crisp across her shoulders and legs. It was so bad that she couldn’t even love on her children without wanting to cry. Ironically, a few weeks later, she received COOLA Suncare products and, after trying them for some time, realized that had she had these amazing products, she probably would have fared much better.

COOLA Suncare immediately had me excited because it is non-GMO and 70% organic. Additionally, each item had some level of SPF built in. Clearly, I was in the market for some good SPF.

The first product I tried was the Guava Mango Sport Suncreen. At an SPF of 50, I knew that I would be protected (as would my oldest who is twelve) while we hung out at the pool. Free of parabens, phthalates, and paba, the COOLA line is absolutely one that I’m happy to use on and with my family. Plus, after we put it on at the pool, we were the talk of all the moms. The smell is absolutely delicious, and one mom even remarked that it reminded her of a fun adult drink. Ha!

I think that my favorite product that I tried would have to be the Makeup Setting Spray. It boasts a 30 SPF and is also 70% organic, non-GMO, and Farm to Face. My face is usually very oily, so by the end of the day my makeup seems to have melted off.

This Makeup Setting Spray helped me make it through the day looking fresh. Having the extra sun protection didn’t hurt my feelings, either. At my age, and with all the risks of skin cancer that exist, I’m happy to double, triple, even quadruple the protection that I have.

I did try out the Liplux SPF 15 Peppermint Vanilla chapstick. I was worried, with it being so “clean,” that it wouldn’t be a smooth application and that it would clump up later. I’ve noticed that several products that can say they are organic or clean actually don’t work as well. The Liplux kept my lips soft and didn’t build up on my mouth. I was able to do my 2 mile walk in hot weather without having that extra level of “ew” that I get from other products.

Lastly, I tried the Mineral Sport SPF 50 Tinted Sunscreen Stick. There is a slight tint that worked well with my skin type. The smell is moderately overpowering at first, but I’m highly sensitive so smell. Once I was used to it — or it dissipated — all was good. I loved the ease of application and the fact that it didn’t feel heavy on my face. So many other sunscreen sticks will feel like you’ve added tons of extra layers to your face. This, on the other hand, did not. I was excited.

COOLA formulates with Plant Protection®, which achieves clinically tested, broad spectrum and antioxidant-rich protection while using fewer traditional actives. Better for your skin, better for the environment.
