Honesty: Confessions from a Cluttered Genius

Honesty: Confessions from a Cluttered Genius

I am participating in the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge. Today’s letter is H.

Let’s face it. Most bloggers or online personalities put on some really good airs about who they really are. They paint these pretty pictures of themselves so that people won’t think they’re “bad” people. If you’re my friend and you’re reading my blog, chances are you could attest to the fact that what I share is 99% true — I don’t get too specific about my kids’ names, etc.

I thought in the spirit of being honest with my readers, I’d share a few tidbits about me that I haven’t shared before. Thus, I give you:

Honesty: Confessions from a Cluttered Genius

  • I have never seen or read The Lord of the Rings. I know. I’m an English teacher. I probably should be stripped of my credentials.
  • I’ve also never read Harry Potter, Catcher in the Rye, War and Peace, Of Mice and Men, or Grapes of Wrath. I used Cliff’s Notes for Tess of the D’urbervilles and Jane Eyre in my 11th grade English class.
  • Today, I ate about 10 cookies. Just ripped open the bag and went at it. I also hid myself from my children’s view as I was doing it for fear that they’d want one and I’d have to give one up.
  • I totally notice grammar mistakes when people are talking. I don’t mean to, and I don’t want to all the time. I know I should only reserve these moments for when my students are doing something with public speaking. I just can’t help it.
  • My FitBit counts the rocking I do when I’m putting Flash to bed as steps for the day. I don’t adjust it, and I’m really happy to see that I have over 1,000 steps sometimes primarily from rocking my baby.
  • I am counting down the days until buy Pregabalin online canada my BFF, Heather, and I can go away for a full weekend and drink margaritas and have massages and pedicures without people clawing at us and asking for crackers or cookies that we don’t want to share anyway. (I’m pretty sure that was NOT a runon for those of you keeping track of my grammar now.)

Ok, come on. You know there’s something you want to be honest about. Tell me in the comments!

  1. So. Confession. I’d love one day just ONE day where I can have some kid free fun with a friend without feeling totally guilty and feeling like I have to rush home as fast as I possibly can.

    1. I know, I know! I must read it. I have a long list of books I really need to read for both pleasure and intelligence-sake! 🙂

  2. Love this post, Lydia. You kept me smiling the whole way. You have some pretty honest confessions there. I won’t say which ones I am the most shocked about. Really like your blog and your style of writing. Stay cluttered; that way I’m not alone. God bless, Maria from Delight Directed Living
