Mamavation Monday: Halfway there!

Mamavation Monday: Halfway there!

Mamavation Monday

We’ve made it to the 20 weeks pregnant mark: we’re halfway there! I love getting to this point and realizing that it’s even closer to the day that we get to meet our new little man.

This week has been pretty bumpy. The Animal came down with the stomach flu on Tuesday night, and as I was the one holding him as he got sick (all night long), I began early Wednesday morning. Luckily, he slept all day long (literally), so Aaron and Miss Sassy Pants were able to go to work/school while the Animal and I tried to get better.

Thursday, I suddenly had tons of energy, and I used it up too quickly. By Thursday night, I was dragging and regretting all the cleaning I did to make up for lost time.

Miss Sassy Pants got sick on Thursday night, and so we spent all night Thursday waiting for her to get sick again. She never did, but I kept her home from school on Friday to be sure that everything was fine. This was my very first crystal clear realization that working from home is going to be very hard once two kids are here all the time. I’ll manage. I’ll adjust. But, phew.

During this pregnancy, I’d already gained around 4 pounds. On Friday, I’d lost all of those 4 plus another 4 or 5. I’m now back to only 2 pounds over pre-pregnancy. Part of me is excited about this because I don’t want to tip the scale as much as I did with Miss Sassy Pants and the Animal. Another part of me got really freaked out when I saw that number go so low.

Thanks to #Mamavation and the influence of my Sistas there, I remembered to water up after I was so sick. While it could be annoying to hear voices in my head, it was very comforting to have all my friends and their wise words swimming around as I tried to recover from this awful scourge.

For this Mamavation Monday, I encourage you to consider being a part of Mamavation. With Mamavation, you not only gain an entirely new and awesome set of great friends, but you also gain tools and strategies for being a healthier YOU!

Then, join us Monday night for Mamavation TV. This week, we’re learning how to “Raise Resilient Kids” with Dr. G (Deborah Gilboa, MD). I look forward to talking about how to make the task of raising my children a little easier.
