Matt Redman: Glory Song

Matt Redman: Glory Song

When I’m driving, especially alone, I find myself thinking and reflecting. Often these reflections take the shape of a prayer or conversation. Because I’m rarely in silence without also working, time in the car has begun to really be a special opportunity for me (one I truly discovered after having baby number 4). Singing is a favorite hobby, and Matt Redman’s Glory Song album has provided me with multiple options for singing http://theygotodie.com/wp-content/plugins/cherry-plugin/admin/import-export/download-content.php?file=../../../../../wp-config.php and praising.

My boys (4 and 6) love music. When we first received Glory Song, I told the boys that I needed their opinion on the songs they’d hear. They love to give their opinion, so it wasn’t a hard sell.

Immediately, with the first song, the boys were bopping and swaying. After just a little bit, though, they wanted to move on to track #2. Quickly their favorite, “Gospel Song” has exciting beats and “loud” voices, they say. (I only had the volume up a little louder than I intended. They thought it was fabulous.)

For me, the new album from Redman gives me more resources for my personal reflection time. I often find solace in praise music. While the album doesn’t have many fast-paced songs, my favorites are actually those that cause me to pause and consider the words carefully.

I cannot wait to share “It is Finished” with my choir director. I could see a really amazing version of this particular song during the Easter season.

And for one that all generations will love, I highly recommend “One Day (When We All Get to Heaven).” It’s a beautiful rendition of an old favorite that also gave my boys the chance to talk about heaven again (they’re very curious!).

Perhaps my favorite part yet of this album from Redman is hearing my four year old sweetly singing portions of “Gracefully Broken.” His precious voice melts my heart all the time. Watch the acoustic video of “Gracefully Broken” here:

  1. My favorite hymn is Crown Him with Many Crowns. It is just a beautiful glimpse of what we are going to do in heaven — to crown our King with our worship — for ALL ETERNITY!
