Secret Subject Swap

Secret Subject Swap

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week, 14 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

Secret Subject Swap

My subject is You get the opportunity to build a large house in which at least five parties will live. Where will that house be located, what kind of house will it be, with whom will you share it?  It was submitted by Ayacucho Confessions of a Part-Time Working Mom. Here goes:

So this is kind of funny because right now, we have five people living in our house – Aaron, me, Miss Sassy Pants, Animal, and Flash. In just a few short months, it’s going to be six people living in this house when we introduce Diva to the bunch. I don’t want to move out of where we live (unless we could move the mountains to us – I really like the mountains). But, if I could build a new house right here, I’d do a few things:

All four kids would have rooms that were of good size. Aaron and I would still have a big room like we have now, but our bathroom would make more sense. I didn’t make any good choices in my bathroom — like, I forgot to make sure I had a tub. So now, I regret not having a tub even though I hate stewing in my own filth. But sometimes, it is nice to sit and relax because I totally have time to do that.

Our kitchen would still be huge (I did a good job planning that size), but I’d update our appliances. And I really want one of those microwaves over my stove instead of a microwave taking up space on the counter. I do like my glass top stove. Lots of people like gas stoves, but I think I really prefer the glass top. Easier to clean.

Otherwise, I really just want a larger living room. What we have now gets squished. It’s hard to have a large group over for a birthday party or other event because our house has many “smaller” rooms, so not everyone can squish into the living room. In general, we squish into the large kitchen, but the island takes up the space many would use to sit.

I guess I’d keep staying with the people I’m with now. They are family after all.

If you could have any house you wanted, what would you include?

  1. how funny that the prompt called for the same exact number of people you already have in your house. If I could build my dream house I would love a HUMONGOUS and two bathrooms. Other than that I;m okay with our tiny apartment, for now.

    1. I thought that was funny, too. I’d like a bigger bathroom than what I have now, but honestly – like you – I’m happy with what we have, really.

  2. A larger and updated version of what you already have, that’s nice!
I would have a hard time deciding… Between the light and airy beach house, the log cabin in the mountains, the town house in the city, not the busiest part though,… So I guess I’ll stay where I am 😉
