Three blog posts in one day

Three blog posts in one day

I had this goal of writing every day in December. I missed this weekend. Oops.

Lucky for you, I’m willing to write three blog posts in one day. Here ya go:

Saturday 12/13

Today, we dropped Miss Sassy Pants off at the Girl Scouts Santa’s Workshop and took the boys with us to finish Christmas shopping. In one fell swoop, we were done. Of course, the Animal found a bunch of things he’s certain Santa will bring him on Christmas. Oops.

We rushed home to get the boys down for a nap, and I hurried to work for a little bit before having to swoop Miss Sassy Pants up again and head off to the dance studio to get her ready for the night parade in a nearby county. My sister and I grabbed some dinner, ate in the minivan, and watched the parade with all its cool lights. As soon as MSP went by, we hurried to the car (it was chilly) to pick her up.

After the kids went to bed, Aaron and I did some rearranging in the living room. I’m nesting like crazy, and he feeds my crazy habits. Our goal is to get this place organized buy Lyrica 150 mg online before BabyGenius4 arrives. We went to bed too late, and I waited to late to read through my Sunday School lesson (that I’d offered to teach).

Sunday 12/14

By some miracle, the boys slept until almost 8. Aaron and I sat up in bed completely confused. His exact words were, “Do you see what time it is!?” and my exact response was, “Yes. It’s glorious.”

In all the glory of a beautiful longer sleep time came a crazier get-ready-for-church time. We still had some great pancakes and made it in plenty of time. I led the Sunday School lesson for my group, and even though I wasn’t perfectly prepared (did you read above where I said I was falling asleep?), it was an awesome discussion.

Church included a Moravian Love Feast, and Aaron and I helped serve. We had no clue what we were doing, but it was really nice. The choir presented their Big Music celebration, the pastor told a story that made me cry, and the youth prepared a delicious fund raising luncheon afterward. Flash had his first real taste of ice cream, and we left both exhausted and filled.

Another quick throwing of the boys into their beds, and it was time to take Miss Sassy Pants to her Girl Scout meeting. While she was there, I ran to multiple stores to finish up all the “loose ends” we had for gifts. I also milled around Michael’s because I didn’t have anyone screaming, “Mama,” or trying to climb out of the cart.

Dinner was a “make what you want” — that’s Miss Sassy Pants’s favorite — and Aaron continued working on the living room. Maybe a couple of more days and we’ll have that portion of the house set.

Monday 12/15

Today, I’m grading college final exams. I’m getting 10,000 emails (ok, overstatement) asking me when they’ll be graded. I’m responding with emoticons.

Flash has been in a better mood, I’ve cleaned the house a bit, I’ve run a couple loads of laundry, and it’s sunny outside.

My goal from now until the end of the year (only a few more days) is to find the happy in each day. I’m tired of being stressed and angry over things I can’t control and even over some that I can control.

How was your weekend? Anything exciting?

  1. Sounds like a busy weekend. Ken and I had a night out on Sunday to go to a friend’s house. She and her husband host 12 nights of dinner parties each December. It’s crazy for them, but so much fun too! We had an awesome dinner and some nice conversation. I’ll leave out the report from the babysitter. I’ve mostly forgiven them for that!
