Mamavation Monday: Buh Bye Baby Weight

Mamavation Monday: Buh Bye Baby Weight

Happy Monday, Geniuses. It’s another Mamavation Monday and a chance to update you on how things are going around here.

First, if you missed it, Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Flash was born on Wednesday, April 24. It was a pretty quick and easy experience, and we were home the next day. He has made life interesting in the last week as he developed jaundice and had to stay in a bili-blanket for a couple of days. Having never used a bili-blanket (Miss Sassy Pants only had to sit in the window a few days), we were amazed by the handy home health group who delivered at 10 pm and the fact that the blanket never actually got hot. Flash didn’t really enjoy the blanket, but he sure earned his blog name in another way. He reminded me of Flash Gordon, and I kept singing http://city-made.com/gedsc-digital-camera-3/ Queen’s version of the song in my head.

Other than dealing with a bili-blanket and being exhausted from the typical early days of a newborn, things are going great. I’m itching to begin working out, but I’m keeping myself held back so I don’t overdo anything.

Regardless of my inability to work out, I’m still constantly moving to chase the Animal and to keep the house straightened. I’m readjusting my work schedule and personal expectations so that I get what’s required done when it’s needed to be finished and then spend the rest of the time with all of my babies. Here’s a grinning baby picture for you:

Because I can start thinking in ways of the scale again, I present you with my

Non-Scale Victories:

  • Flash overcame the jaundice.
  • The Animal is adjusting well to this new human in the house.
  • Miss Sassy Pants found out she can have her cast off at the end of the month.
  • Our laundry is almost completely caught up!

Scale Victory

  • I have lost 20 lbs in the last 12 days. No joke, yo. How? Well, obviously I had an 8lb 7 oz baby that helped drop some of it. Otherwise, I’m actually eating well, drinking water, and constantly moving to deal with the other two kids in the house who are (highly) mobile. I have had my fair share of brownies and ice cream, but my breastfeeding metabolism is going nuts! I feel so great about where I am. In about 4 weeks, when the doctor clears me, I’m going to be shouting, “GAME ON!” My final goal is to lose a total of AT LEAST 58 lbs. So, I have 38 left to go!

How was your week? Do you have a non-scale or even scale victory to share?
