Mamavation Monday: I'm a Power Lifter

Confession: Lubań I’m addicted to the drive-thru.

It’s true. It’s true. If I can get to a drive-thru, I will find a reason to need something. It might be an order of fries, a milkshake, a drink. I will find any reason to need to go through.

Hamburger Fries DrinkI started to realize recently that this is actually a problem. And even though I admitted it out loud, to my husband, to my friends, and to my Mamavation Sistas, it didn’t stop me from going through last week at least 3 times. I will say that I did make a smart move and actually get salads as my side item, but then the one place accidentally gave me some curly fries. You know I just HAD to eat them.

By the end of the week, I realized that every single night, I felt sick. And it wasn’t a “sick” that I could blame on Spawn (our unborn child) who had been giving me some problems for a few weeks. I’m actually past the “morning sickness” stage, so I knew that this feeling of yuck was stemming from something else.

In my lamentations to my Sistas, one very wise friend said, “Will power is a muscle.  Like every muscle, it needs to be exercised.  The more it is exercised, the stronger it gets.”

BicepsThis resonated with me more than anything else. And so, this week, I am proclaiming to be a Power Lifter — will power, that is. I pledge to you, my family, my friends, and myself that I will stop going through drive-thrus for arbitrary reasons. I have plenty of food at home, and it will only go bad if not eaten.

Phew! That felt good to say.

What goal do you have for yourself this week? How can you exercise YOUR will power?

Tonight is the kick-off of Mamavation Campaign #14. Mamavation is bringing back former Mamavation Moms for a little competition. I’m excited to watch each team record their successes and progress over the next 7 weeks. Good luck, ladies!

You can join us tonight, Monday, October 22, on Facebook for the Mamavation Facebook Party. There will be prizes and excitement and fun, oh yeah!
