Our last summer hoorah with a #Snackation

My boys are at home with me for just one more week before they start school. Granted, they aren’t going to have homework or anything that will require them to do much more than play and sing some ABCs, but it’s definitely different from the laid back atmosphere of summer.

Because we only have a few days left before the full routine kicks in, I wanted to have some extra fun with them. One way we’re doing this is by having a #Snackation here at home.

You may recall that our little family made the jaunt to Walmart to buy some goodies by the J.M. Smucker company (with whom I’m teaming up for this post!). We put Jif to Go, Whips, and Hazelnut spread in our cart. The boys were excited about “chocolate peanut butter” and “dips” for their pretzels.

Our first adventure was to have “dips” for lunch. The boys adore the Jif to Go because they have a love affair of sorts with peanut butter.

We decided to have our first Snackation adventure in our back yard. Our boys love being outside, so we gathered up all of our ingredients and headed to the back yard. We made our picnic table our “fort” and the chefs started their work. You can see that they really had fun setting the pretzel sticks on their Minion plates! Our boys are kind of weird about eating meat, so we’re always trying to find fun ways to get protein into them. Peanut butter is generally their go-to choice!

The next day, their big sister (they call her “Sissy”) decided to create a cooking show with her brothers. Miss Sassy Pants created what she called “Cookie Crumble” with some graham crackers, Jif chocolate peanut butter Whips, whipped topping, and chocolate chips. It was hilarious to hear them record on the iPad (for their own viewing pleasure later) and make a pretty darn tasty little treat.

Today, the boys wanted to make their own lunches. So, I gave them the freedom to choose. Again, they talked through like chefs on a cooking show and used pretzel sticks with hazelnut spread. I let myself embrace the mess. After all, they’re learning!

So far, our #Snackation is going pretty great. I’m excited to have some new tastes and products for our kids to try out. And for the record, my adult friends, the hazelnut spread and chocolate peanut butter Whips are delicious with animal crackers. I speak from experience. 🙂

I received compensation in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
